Shrewsbury is buzzing this June with the Jubilee, Festivals, Street Parties and more! Check out what's happening below...

Guided Walks of Shrewsbury

Come and join us on one of our daily guided walks throughout the summer. Led by our team of knowledgeable guides, explore the history and buildings of Shrewsbury during a 90 minute walk around this historic town. Tours take place everyday from 1st April to 30th September 2022 and meet under the Old Market Hall at the following times: Monday to Saturday. Tours start at 2pm Sunday. Tours start at 11.30am

Severn Summer Afternoon Tea

Enjoy a leisurely cruise down the Severn on The Sabrina Boat before enjoying traditional afternoon tea at The Orchard Cafe. Offer available every Wednesday - Saturday, with three cruises to choose from; 11am, 12pm and 1pm.

Jubilee Crown Hunt

28th May - 5th June - Shrewsbury Prison

Honouring 70 years of Her Majesty The Queen's service. Having been an HM Prison for 200 years before its closure in 2013, Shrewsbury Prison will be celebrating The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and we invite you to join us behind bars and take part in our Jubilee Crown Hunt. Scattered around the grounds, wings, corridors and cells are hidden crowns, with each containing a clue or riddle, you’ll need to solve the puzzle to unlock a tasty treat from our on-site Restaurant! The Jubilee Crown Hunt is open to all ages and included within your Tour or Activity ticket. Upon arrival, grab your Crown Hunt form from the Visitor Centre, and let the hunt begin! There are three different levels of difficulty for this activity: · Junior Officers (Ages 5-10) · Officers (Ages 11-15) · Governors (Ages 16+)

Shrewsbury Farmers Market

3rd June - The Square

The Shrewsbury Farmers Market brings the fields of Shropshire to Shrewsbury Square on the first Friday of every month. There is a plethora of delicious food and drink to tempt people to try some of the best locally produced food.

90's Revival Festival

3rd-4th June - West Mid Show Ground

The 90s Revival is a high-octane event bringing you some of the best artists and tracks of the 90s. Over 2 days we will be bringing you on the Friday 3rd June Baby D, N-Trance, Angie Brown (voice of Bizarre Inc), Urban Cookie Collective, Dario G and then on Saturday 4th June we have East 17, Alice DJ, Maxx, Anita Doth (voice of 2 unlimited hits) and D-Ream. We also now have Tribute Acts, Local Bands and a Family Stage to keep you entertained all day long, oh and did we mention that you can camp with us too.

Late Night at the Market Hall

4th June - The Market Hall

Enjoy flavours from around the world at raved about cafes and street food venues, alongside cocktails, real wines and live jazz. Late shopping at selected retail stalls. The award-winning market’s eateries and bars will be open up to 10pm. Eateries due to open late range from Thai, Mediterranean and Tex-Mex to artisan pizza and Chinese dumplings. Wine bar/café Petitglou and artisan gin parlour Gindifferent will be open for cocktails, specialist wines and craft beers. Tom’s Table café and The Market Café will also become cocktail bars for the evening. Browse an eclectic range of unique retail stalls, from original art, quality gifts and handcrafts to homewares, books, vintage and more.

Belle Vue Arts Festival

11th - 25th June - Various Locations

One of Shrewsbury’s longest-running festivals, this year Belle Vue Arts Festival will be celebrating its 19th year! This year’s theme is "Journeys", and the festival team has been busy pulling together an exciting range of activities for the festival fortnight, including art trails, open gardens, pub quiz, live music, photography exhibition and more. Find the full itinerary of events here. Local communities of all ages are encouraged to take part in the festival's photography, art and scarecrow, and Instagram competitions.

Made in Shropshire - Fair in the Square

11th June - The Square

Every 2nd Saturday of the month the Made in Shropshire 'Fair in The Square' is carefully curated to ensure the best selection and variety of Shropshire based artists, craftspeople and food producers are represented. Come and find an exciting selection of baked goods, jams and treats as well as expertly crafted artwork, glass, jewellery, clothing, ceramics and homeware.

Mi Flamenco

12th June- Theatre Severn

Everything we experience leaves an indelible imprint... A trace... An echo.

This evocative new production combines engaging imagery and emotive flamenco dance, with soul-stirring music and voices. Blending personal reflections of Spain with the power and poise of flamenco, these skilled dancers and musicians give audiences a very particular vision through Mi Flamenco's artistic lens.

Anton & Giovanni

14-15th June - Theatre Severn

Following two SOLD OUT shows at Theatre Severn in 2021, Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice return to Shrewsbury in 2022 with their sensational live show - HIM & ME!

The Ballroom King and the two-time Guinness World Record holder will be joined by a world class cast of dancers and singers. This show promises to be the best night out in the summer of 2022 for all ages. A true dance extravaganza!

Night Behind Bars

17th June - Shrewsbury Prison

There is a whole world to explore. It is a fantastic experience for couples, groups of friends and those with an interest in the paranormal. At 8pm you will be met by prison staff, let into the prison through the huge wooden gates and shown to your cell for the night. This is a traditional Victorian cell providing a truly authentic experience.

Oil To the Fort

17-19th June -Shrewsbury Castle

Remember OIL TO THE FORT last year? The teams at Dough and Oil and bar Oil are bringing it back, only this time bigger and better: live music over two stages, open-air cinema, silent disco, food and liquor yard all within the spectacular castle grounds.

The Hive Street Festival

18th June - The Hive, Belmont

The Hive invites you to join them for a vibrant summer street festival for all the family. On June 18th live entertainment and creative activities will line the road of Belmont to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. There will be live music, art and crafts activities, light installations, stalls, live theatre, storytelling, games, circus skills, drumming, and family friendly fun. In addition, The Hive’s Patron Charlie Adlard will be running a creative workshop for all ages and abilities. Celebrating the Jubilee year in The Hive’s inimitable creative way, there will be something enjoyable and entertaining for everyone. The Hive Street Festival will offer a familiar town centre setting; with plenty of space to walk around and take part in the activities, grab refreshments, and soak up all of the festival atmosphere in one happy place.

BORDERLINE sees Patrick Kielty return to his satirical roots with a personal take on borders, national identity and the future of the Union in a post Brexit landscape.

Comic Salopia

24th - 26th June - Various Locations

Partnering with the Museum, Castle, Library and independent businesses across the town, we are back to bring you another exciting Comics Salopia festival with some of the biggest names in Comics. The festival is a wonderful eclectic mixture of free and paid events; the Castle and Museum will be free entry and we have a fantastic offering of panels, events and workshops that promise to be lots of fun, inclusive and inspiring for all ages.

Shrewsbury Food Festival

25-26th June - Shrewsbury Quarry

As the Shrewsbury Food Festival launches in to a new decade, we will be bringing you a world of tantalising food and drink, all perfectly wrapped up in a festival that includes the best chefs and culinary delights! Shrewsbury Food Festival is a brilliant day out in the town that will not only fill your stomach with tasty treats. it will fill you with pride to be supporting so many fantastic local food and drink producers. We have our exhibitors. as well as cookery demonstrations, chef school, a free from area, BBQ stage, kids entertainment, live music and much more!

Rhod Gilbert - The Book of John

25-26th June - Shrewsbury Quarry

This show sees Rhod as funny as ever, but like never before. It’s a little bit raw, very personal, and brutally honest; no more lies, no more nonsense. This is Rhod, but different, the same, but not. It’s a show about hitting rock bottom, and just when you think things can’t get any worse, you meet a bloke…a bloke called John.
