Shrewsbury Arts Trail

From July the 1st to August the 31st, the whole town will be a hub of creative activity, with some very famous artists involved and a chance for local artists to raise their own profiles too. A dazzling sculpture trail by the world-famous and colourful artist Andrew Logan will take centre stage in this year’s Shrewsbury Arts Trail. Famous works will be exhibited alongside artwork by local artists, inspired by and responding to these ‘big names’. Be inspired by artworks from David Hockney, Andrew Logan, Damian Hirst, L.S. Lowry, Ian Berry, Hallima Cassell MBE, George Morton-Clark, Andy Warhol, Endre Roder, and Mark Payne.


Shrewsbury Farmers Market

1st July - The Square

The Shrewsbury Farmers Market brings the fields of Shropshire to Shrewsbury Square on the first Friday of every month. There is a plethora of delicious food and drink to tempt people to try some of the best locally produced food.


Gin Therapy 1st July - Gindifferent, The Market Hall

Think the USA is all about Jack Daniels and Budweiser? Think again! The American Gin industry is booming, and they're making some crackers. Yeeeee haaaa. Americans have been drink Gin for nearly as long as we have. Brought over by the Dutch and Brits alike it help forge the worlds most powerful country and was really what made the west wild. The American Gin rush is well and truly underway with little Ma and Pa pop ups, amazing collaborations with some famous breweries and Celebrity share holders buying into the distilling industry big time its a fantastic time for Gin in the good old U.S of A. Sessions include 6 Gins, 3 cocktails, delectable nibbles and of course our fully trained Gin-ologist's to guide you through your treatment.


Handmade & Creative Summer Fair

9th July - St Mary's Church

Shropshire Handmade and Creative are returning to host their annual Summer Fair at St Marys Church in the heart of the beautiful and historical market town of Shrewsbury.

Find over 30 local crafters, makers, designers and producers bringing you unique and bespoke products such as gifts, clothing, interiors, homewares, artwork, jewellery, food, stationery and much more. Workshops will be available for adults and children.

Made in Shropshire - Fair in the Square

9th July - The Square

Every 2nd Saturday of the month the Made in Shropshire 'Fair in The Square' is carefully curated to ensure the best selection and variety of Shropshire based artists, craftspeople and food producers are represented. Come and find an exciting selection of baked goods, jams and treats as well as expertly crafted artwork, glass, jewellery, clothing, ceramics and homeware.

Rock Choir 12 Hr Marathon

9th July - St Alkmunds Church

Shropshire Rock Choir will be hosting a marathon 12-hour charity Singathon on Saturday 9th July to raise funds for three local charities: Shrewsbury Food Hub, Telford Crisis Support and Bridgnorth Food Bank. The Singathon will take place at St Alkmunds Church, Shrewsbury Town Centre. From 9am to 9pm, the choir will be singing their favourite songs and will include performances from local choirs, vocal groups, and solo/acoustic singers too - something for everyone’s musical taste! Come and support this free event with a raffle offering fantastic prizes, home-made cake, and refreshments. All donations going to the chosen charities.


Living Well Festival

10th July - The Quarry

Wow, what an incredible festival we had last year in 2021 and we are going to be doing it all again in 2022 at The Quarry, Shrewsbury. Over 100 exhibitors and 30 workshop leaders will come together. The best local and nationally acclaimed holistic and wellbeing practitioners and teachers, psychics and readers, healers, local producers, coaches and natural beauticians as well as environmentalists to enlighten, inspire and educate you. Come along and join in the many workshops and talks which will include yoga, meditation, gong bath, drum journeying, massage techniques, yoga for all ages and abilities.


Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival

14-17th July - Theatre Severn

Following two years of Covid induced slumber, Shrewsbury's biggest comedy gig is BACK! Determined to make 2022 'The Summer of Fun' - Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival is back with a series of live comedy events at Threat Severn, and the flagship event, a star studded Gala Show! It's like a whole series of Live At The Apollo in one night, and we are delighted to announce these top acts!


Madness

15th July -The Quarry

Classic Pop royalty Madness are very pleased to announce a major outdoor summer show at The Quarry in Shrewsbury. Riding into 2022 fresh from their overwhelmingly popular 'The Ladykillers Tour', the original kings of Camden will be bringing their House of Fun to this unique space for what promises to be a riotously entertaining headline set to remember.

Let’s Rock! has been leading the way for quality, family-friendly 80s music festivals since 2009. Don’t miss out on this chance for a retro blast with the very best of the 80s!


Queen's Baton Relay

18th July - Various Locations

Birmingham 2022 is staging the 16th official Queen's Baton Relay ahead of the common wealth games this summer. It's an epic journey across the Commonwealth, visiting all 72 nations and territories - and the Baton is coming to Shrewsbury on July 18th! The Queen's Baton will arrive via helicopter at Shrewsbury Sports Village. It will then follow a route from Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings to Shrewsbury Castle, before weaving its way through the town to Victoria Quay. Here it will sail down the Severn on The Sabrina Boat and a boat from Pengwern Boat Club, before finally arriving in The Quarry for a spectacular evening of celebrations.


Battle of Shrewsbury Medieval Weekend

23rd - 24th July - Battlefield 1403

Over the anniversary week of the Battle of Shrewsbury, we travel back to medieval Shropshire to see the sights and sounds of every life leading upto the battle. During this great family day out you will get to see knights in armour and archers preparing for battle, living history including traditional crafts and cookery. With many activities to try your hand at throughout the day and many skills that can be used today. There will be a historical market area selling all manners of wares, plus local crafts, organisations and much more. Each day will end with the Battle of Shrewsbury where you can choose sides of the rebel army or the king himself.



Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Festival

23rd - 24th July - The Quarry

Get your oars at the ready as the Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Festival returns! It is a fantastic weekend out for both participants and spectators as teams of 11 to 20 take to the River Severn in 40ft long Viking Dragon Boats. Teams can take part on either the Saturday or Sunday by registering at severnhospice.org.uk The festival sets up on Beck's Field between Shrewsbury School and the Pengwern Boat Club. Spectators can enjoy the view for free from Shrewsbury Quarry whilst cheering on their favourite team!
