From Flowers to Folk Festivals, Enjoy a Fun-Filled Vacation This August!
2nd August - 7pm - Shrewsbury Castle
The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – with a history stretching back to William Shakespeare himself – invite you to join them this summer for the sparkling comedy, As You Like It. One of the UK’s finest touring theatre companies present this great play as Shakespeare first saw it performed – in the open air, by an all male cast and with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. Bring a chair and a picnic and prepare to be entertained and transported. Book early to avoid missing out!
4th August - 2pm & 5.30pm - Shrewsbury Castle
Quantum Theatre are back with an enchanting new adaptation of two of Beatrix Potter’s best-loved Tales, The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny...
Michael Whitmore’s charming adaptation will have you spellbound so why not grab the kids, a blanket and a picnic and join Peter and Benjamin on their hair-raising adventures - a magical afternoon of fun for all the family.
15th August - The Square
The Shrewsbury Farmers Market brings the fields of Shropshire to Shrewsbury Square on the first Friday of every month. There is a plethora of delicious food and drink to tempt people to try some of the best locally produced food.
7th August - 1pm & 4pm - Shrewsbury Castle
Immersion Theatre invite you to enjoy an afternoon of open-air decadence and hilarity as they proudly present Oscar Wilde’s wittiest comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. Prepare your cucumber sandwiches and spend the afternoon in the glorious sunshine enjoying one of literature’s most trivial comedies for serious people…there’ll be handbags at dawn!
11th August - 7pm - Sabrina Boat, Victoria Quay
Enjoy a traditional fish and chip supper right out of the paper while you cruise along the River Severn.
Arrival is from 7:00 pm, however, the cruise will depart at 7:30 pm and will last for two hours while you eat your dinner and enjoy your cruise!
12-13th August - The Quarry
The show is one of the country’s Premier Flower Show events, attracting top exhibitors from all over the country. It has a small permanent staff and over 100 volunteers who manage and organise the whole event, from traffic flow, marquee and services contracts, publicity and marketing, public safety, catering and entertainment, and engaging specialist judges for hundreds of competitive classes etc. and ensuring that our visitors have an extraordinary experience with value for money.
13th August - The Square
Every 2nd Saturday of the month the Made in Shropshire 'Fair in The Square' is carefully curated to ensure the best selection and variety of Shropshire based artists, craftspeople and food producers are represented. Come and find an exciting selection of baked goods, jams and treats as well as expertly crafted artwork, glass, jewellery, clothing, ceramics and homeware.
14th August - 3pm & 7pm - The Flaxmill Maltings
There’s plenty to shout about in The Pantaloons’ take on Shakespeare’s timeless summer comedy of masks, music and mistaken identities! The boys are back from war and it’s time for celebration, but devious Don John plans to spoil everyone’s fun with his perilous plots. Will young lovers Claudio and Hero fall foul of the crafty criminal? Will bickering Benedick and Beatrice ever admit that they actually like each other? Find out in this fast-paced, physical and funny new production!
18th August - 7pm - Sabrina Boat, Victoria Quay
Join us for a relaxing three-hour cruise on board Sabrina with a masterclass in gin from Wrekin Gin.
Arrival is from 7:00pm however the cruise will depart at 7:30pm and will last two hours. At this point, you will be given an optional hour extension to finish your drinks and enjoy the scenery.
20th -21st August - Soden Collection
As part of the Shrewsbury Arts Trail, this year, we are holding Shrewsbury' first ever Secret Artist Sale! What is a Secret Artist Sale I hear you ask? It's a charity event raising money for 4 great charities; Breast Cancer Now, The Samaritans, Tress for Shropshire and Alzheimer's Society. Original art will be available to purchase from some of the UK's most celebrated artists including Philip Sutton RA for only £50! Why is it secret? Well all artwork shall be signed on the back and you wo't know who the artist is until you have purchased the artwork! That's the surprise! Although those with keen eyes might be able to spot the style.
26th - 29th August - Greenhous West Mids Showground
